The Steam Deck officially supports Xbox Cloud Gaming! It's accomplished via the Edge browser. I wrote up an article here with more info.
I know right! I'm even more excited to play my Steam Deck now (Q2 FTW!).This is great news!
I don't see them every making an Xbox handheld. Cloud Gaming accomplishes exactly that with phones that everyone already owns. What I would love, and I think is possible, is an official phone controller that connects directly to the server, like Luna and Stadia. It's news that makes sense. Microsoft is smart officially supporting the deck because it builds good will for a time when they introduce an Xbox handheld. Not that I want one, mind you.
I should have said, "if". They could have said they were going to deny access to Steam Deck owners. They sill could. But why cause the rift? Even if they never make a handheld, it's still awesome.I don't see them every making an Xbox handheld. Cloud Gaming accomplishes exactly that with phones that everyone already owns. Great point. I totally agree. That's what's awesome about Microsoft, and why they're my favorite platform maker right now. And I don't even own an Xbox. I have so much respect for Phil Spencer, with the exception that I think it was the wrong decision to buy Activision Blizzard. Phil Spencer has an egalitarian approach to game publishing. He wants everyone to be able to play Xbox, where and when they want to. You can even play Xbox S | X exclusives on Xbox One, thanks to cloud gaming. That's awesome.I should have said, "if".
