Viability of PS3 Emulation on Deck?

Hiya, I have very little experience with emulation in general and was wondering what are the possibility that smooth 30fps emulation of PS3 is viable on deck and if this would be the case technically. Would love to be able to play through classics like LittleBigPlanet on deck! What linux based emulation cores are known to be stable and good? Thank you!

As far as i know RPCS3 is the best or only working emulator so far that is publicly available.
From the gut feeling I would say that the RPCS3 would in no case run reasonably on the Deck. But I wanted to check anyway.

System requirements are kind of beefy :

And these are the Deck specs:

I don't exaclty know much about hardware when it comes to "AVX2" or when I have to compare "AMD HD5000" to "8 RDNA 2 CUs".

Maybe someone could enlighten me and explain how far off the Deck hardware is from the minimum requirements of the emulator.

Thats hard to say .. GPU & RAM wise it should be fine I guess but not sure about the 4 cores / 8 Threads vs. 6/12.

I still have my PS3 and lots of Games .. maybe I will give it a shot. But in general this is the least interesting emulation scenario for me.

Yeah that's a fair point, I mean with all the other systems and cores that will run seamlessly on deck, I was just wondering whats the limit it could reach seems this may be a stretch. Oh well and thank you for your insights!

hmm, just a thought... even if PS3 viability is not yet there, PS2 emulation has the highest possibility of emulation on the steamdeck. right? 😁

Par and pat can't even emulate PS3 and they are Sony consoles they really did one over on everyone with that architecture
