are you sure it isn't your charger like mentioned here:

worst case scenario you'll have to get it checked out by valve:

I only get a black screen on my Steam Deck

This calls for an old-fashioned reboot. Press the Power button for around 10 seconds to restart. Wait for your Steam Deck to boot up again and see if the screen is back to normal. If this doesn’t work, double-check that your Steam Deck has a battery charge. If nothing changes the problem, it’s time to contact Valve. The Steam Deck has a 12-month limited warranty, so you could qualify for a replacement model.

Dear Jackie. I have the same issue. I got my brand new deck and it worked for two days. Then this happened a nothing makes it respond. Also, the charger has been checked, it charges all sorts of devices but not the deck. Using other charges has no effect.
Did you receive any feedback on how to troubleshoot this, or did you send back your unit?
Grateful for you reply

Same here, same exact situation. I have a ticket into valve but I've spent the last hour reading RMA horror stories. Would love to hear what happened

Dear @jrsy,

Apologies for a late response. So after stating my case to Steam Support, they suggested more troubleshoot options. Most notable: 1) change the wall outlet to charge the deck 2) change the PSU 3) remove any peripherals and retry among others (i.e. try other methods of charging the deck). You can give them a try, but none of them worked for me. The device is a brick, zero feedback on any kind.

After a back and forth, my unit is getting replaced. After a day of confirming my unit is up for replacement, they sent me all the instructions (the process is quite safe btw, you can book a pick up for the return package at your address). I want to see how fast I get a new unit, before I give my overall impressions of this process. So far, although incredibly sad, Steam has been willing to help at every step and that is a big positive.

Hoping the process goes well for me and you,

alejo

Same thing here. I got my steam deck only for 3 weeks and it turned into a brick. I’m talking with support for already 4 days. I’m trying to explain that it’s a brick and nothing helps. Really disappointed in the device and support service. Hope that they’ll send a new one and take back this one.

Sorry to hear this is also happening to you @Ylfmay. Today I received my new unit. I have not unpacked it yet (a busy week for me). But this is effectively 18 days from the moment the old one stopped working, to give you an idea. I never got any explanation as to what was the problem. Although for what I could find in the internet, this is fairly uncommon. Steam support will take it's time to make sure that indeed the unit is bricked. There are other issues out there that are similar but have solutions. Once they understand that your unit is beyond saving, they will send you the RMA (check my previous posts). You just have to be patient (hard, I know).
Maybe you can share details in here about how this occurred to you, and solutions you tried, or the support team suggested. In this way this can be helpful to others.

Cheers,
alejo

Unfortunately the exact same thing happened to me day before last after 3 weeks of use. Tried some of the other solutions on the internet, even went as far as to follow iFixit’s guide and unplug the battery and plug it back in to no avail. Waiting for steam to respond at the moment, been 2 days already so hopefully I hear from them soon!
