Hi,

Just bought a card for my steam deck but guy in the shop sold me the A1 card saying its better performance.

Does it realy works that way for steam ? I noticed that some sites are mentioning the A2 card as being faster for Deck.

Any help is much appreciated I can still exchange the card in the shop.

Just slide the A1 card in, format it with the Deck, and forget about what labels are on it. You could get lost now between IOPS and theoretical values, I have noticed that the speed of the SD cards never really approach the theoretical values with which is advertised and so I just shovel old games that were already running on HDDs with 5400rpm / 7200rpm on the micro SD card and so far everything runs smoothly. New games find their place on the internal SSD and so far I have no problems.

Which card did you buy?

Unless you are trying to install Windows on the card, everything should be fine.
I haven't tried it yet, but Windows is supposed to run crappy off a SD card.
For the vast majority of games, roms, programs etc. your card should be perfectly adequate.

Thanks, so I will leave the card with me then :)..safe to un-pack and give it a go.

Both the Ultra and Extreme perform similarly in terms of read speeds.

The main difference comes in the form of write speeds.
