literally the best Minecraft Launcher I've ever used. Found via Steam Deck's default package manager & now I'm even using it on my Desktop.
As the name implies, it let's you create multiple independent Minecraft Instances, great for creating an sharing custom modpacks.
It also provides a very easy way for installing various mod frameworks/dependencies, ram allocation, use of a proxy.
Definitly one of the resons I got back into minecraft & didn't drop it again after a short time. I like experimenting & this launcher removes all the consequences that may arise in such a case.

**You can skip reading this if you don't care why Prism Launcher is the way to go**
MultiMC was the first. It is open source except for the pre-compiled binaries are un-reproducible. It has to do with Microsoft licensing to my understanding. So, PolyMC was created as a fork to make it so that if you compile it yourself, you get the same binary as the pre-compiled ones themselves. Everything was great, until the founder (Lenny) decided to "reclaim polymc from the leftoids". Basically, Lenny was unhappy that several from the community wanted to celebrate pride-month with a modified logo including a rainbow on the official discord. So they kicked all other contributors and added some random person that hadn't contributed before. This was devastating for the community, and a huge red-flag not to trust PolyMC. If someone can't keep politics out of a Minecraft Launcher, I won't trust them at least.

Here's the good part. The developers who were kickied and, based on the git history, did the vast majority of work on PolyMC, banded together to create a new Fork. They created a new Discord, forked the PolyMC launcher, and had the community come up with ideas for, and vote for the name for the new launcher. Enter Prism Launcher. This is what I use on my Steam Deck and It works wonderfully!

With a few steps, you can install mods to optimize the game, and even add controller support! The following video will show you how to get up and running in only five minutes:

p.s. Here is a guide on transferring from PolyMC to Prism Launcher if you already set that up and don't want to lose your instances. If you have any questions, let me know!
