Hey all,
So I got my deck on yesterday(UK) however I am having charging issues. The problem is my deck either will not charge from the wall adaptor or it will only charge for a short time then stop charging.

I’ve managed to charge to 43% once while the deck was turned on then it just stopped charging. In the performance tab it will show “? ?” Where the charge time would be & at the bottom it will say what the capacity is and under that it has “unknown 0.0w” at the top of the screen the black lightning bolt in the battery indicator will show that it’s getting power, but it won’t charge.

I played through Aperture Desk Job this morning while it was plugged in and the battery stayed at 37% (37% is what it’s currently dropped too but still won’t charge) so it’s getting power, but not charging.

In desktop mode the battery health says 100% & the battery % is the same amount as what’s in game mode.

If I turn the deck off or put it into sleep mode and have it plugged in charging, the white charge light turns off after about 20 / 30 seconds.

I’ve tried the following:

  1. Going into the bios & turning on battery storage and then rebooting the deck by plugging it in - no change

  1. Holding the power button down for 10 / 12 seconds to reboot the deck from when it’s turned on - no change

  1. Tried various wall outlets - no change

  1. Factory reset - no change

  1. Plugged in to my PC while turned off - The charging light stayed on but didn’t gain any charge or I just didn’t leaved it plugged in long enough (It did tell me when I turned it on plugged into the PC, that it wasn’t powerfully enough to charge)

  1. Updated to the latest firmware - no change & this issue was also present before I updated the deck

  1. Tried a Nintendo switch charger - no change

Does anyone else have any kind of solution to this issue? It seem it’s getting power but not charging or only sometimes charging. I have read that completely draining the battery & plugging it in can calibrate it, but being the charging light doesn’t stay on when powered off I’m a bit worried about doing that.

Hey and welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry to hear that. since you've already tried most of what I would have suggested and it wouldn't be worth it to open the Deck, measure voltages and possibly buy and install a replacement battery, I advise you to send Valve this exact text and request an RMA.

More information about the process can be found here *click*

I have also had to send my Deck back 2 times. It's a pain and you have to wait a few days, but it's better than going through a defective dDck and getting angry.
