I'm highly confident that Steam will release a new controller

The Deck seems to make quite a few improvements to the original Steam Controller. In particular, I think the track pads are probably much more advanced. We know they're releasing a dock, and I think it would be crazy for them to expect you to use only an Xbox controller to play Steam games. I'm very confident they'll release a new controller in the near future, hopefully this year. What do you think?

I Think it is a good possibility. At the same time it is Valve though so who knows what they have up their sleeve next!

I guess all the experience from the Steam Controller went into the Deck to improve the controls. Actually I dont think we will see soon another version .. right now they are concentrating on the Deck and I would assume that we see a Index 2.0 sooner than the Controller.

But it would be great to have a refined Steam Controller for sure

Imagine this scenario:

You have your Deck, you love it, you have the perfect control scheme set up using the gyro and touchpad for aiming in your favorite FPS games, it is far more accurate than the analog stick. You dock your Deck, pick up a controller and realize you can't use your awesome control scheme to play because your controller doesn't have a gyro or a touchpad, it's a shitty xbox elite controller! Now you're pissed.

Hmm, when docked you can just use mouse and keyboard or regular Controller as you would on your regular PC ?

Don't get me wrong, I would really like to see V2 of the Steamcontroller, despite I never owned or used one. But i always thought its a clever device.

I think there's a 50/50 chance they'll release a new version of the Steam Controller since the hype around the Deck hasn't really died down yet. Plus, as @Neuromancer said, they might concentrate on other things as well. But if they do release one, I hope it doesn't put a dent on my pocket lol.
