Steam Deck: Replacement Parts
Hi all,

Hope everyone’s doing well – 10 days and counting until launch day! We have some exciting news to share. If you watched our Take a look inside Steam Deck video (aka the “please don’t do this” video), you may remember we said certain Steam Deck replacement parts would be available for purchase.

Today, we’re announcing that iFixit will be one of the authorized sellers of Steam Deck replacement parts – as well as replacement parts for the Valve Index VR products. We are still hammering out the details, and will be sharing more info on this soon.

And in case you missed it, don’t forget to check out iFixit’s teardown of Steam Deck just posted today.

This is a huge deal for the right to repair movement, and iFixit seems like a great place to buy parts, especially since great information on repair is going to be there as well.

This is great news! It will be nice to have a guide and parts to fix it just like a Samsung phone or an IPhone. I have always liked iFixit's way of showing and explaining repairs as well

This is good news.

I wonder if the fact is in the future you'd be able to purchase the next gen mother board and replace your old one?

Same here, I've opened up a bunch of devices and put them back together with iFixit guides and tools

This! I wonder what the chances are for a third party OLED screen replacement?
Until just this second I never thought about third party replacements.

Replace the MoBo, upgrade the screen to OLED and get a higher capacity battery... Yikes!

They seem to have opened the door with its modular design. Would someone pay $100 (or more) each for a "pro" joystick? I dunno (I mean, I wouldn't, but there's usually a customer out there for high quality gear).

Upgrades or Mods would be fantastic. Actually looking at this I´m pretty sure we will see some pretty nifty modifications of the Deck .. will be interesting :D
