One issue availability due OEM only, I bought myself 512GB for $33 second hand used only 5h.

just a question, aren't SSD's by design, already low power consumers, compared to HDD's?

Yes but this one draw 2-2.5x less than most power hungry SSD and is on pair with Server Grade SSD
Depends to test this one draw form 1.1 -2.74W compared to Samsung Evo 970 who usually draw 5W, for desktop PC this not make difrence but for steam deck saving 3.9-2.26W = more battery life, and less heat inside.

hmmm, between 40-50% less power consumption on a steam deck which is a "mobile" PC?
Well I must admit that seems like a great reason to use these ones then.
