I have reserved the 64GB Unit and of course I am somewhat bummed out of the anti-glare glass, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with anti-glare screen protectors for other devices and if they're worth it?

If there is a good solution to that, then I would heavily consider getting one 🤔
Who knows, maybe dbrand will offer something with their (huge?) announcement coming up.

I have a lot of experience using anti-glare plastic/glass on phones.

It is close to a must for me.
But I did not want to pay so much extra for that out-of-the-box.

You have to be careful when buying anti-glare, because low quality screen protectors have bad graining that makes the screen look dirty/oiled.
The most stress-free I've used are the glass kind, because they are very easy to apply - have not had any air bubbles get stuck inside.
But if the glass chips, then that could cut your skin, so you should be a little bit more careful with your device then.

Regular plastic ones I find to be prone to keeping the air bubbles, which <b>will</b> be annoying.

I am also a bit of a gadget junkie and with my Steam Deck set for February fulfillment, I have been doing the same thing as you. Commonly, anti-glare protectors are labeled as "matte" if you were wanting to be googling around for it. In my experience at least, if it is not a popular smartphone or tablet, it can be more difficult and costly to get a good quality matte screen protector. Two base requirements you should always have if you do get one is that (1) it is glass and not plastic to maximize display clarity and (2) it is 9H hardness so it can adequately resist scuffs and scratches. With those requirements in mind, I only see a single matte glass screen protector for Valve Steam Deck available for sale online. The upside is it is manufactured by the company "dipos" in Germany which means it come with the kind of world-class quality craftsmanship you would naturally expect from German-made goods.

EDITED: Found a cheaper, unlisted purchase link by searching eBay.de and plugging that the product ID into eBay.com. For some reason, it isn't shown in the eBay.com search results when I search for "deck dipos." Only 0.99 Euros international shipping so this is an incredible bargain!

Luckily enough, I live in germany! So it may come out cheaper on my end! I will research with everything you've given me so far! :D Tysm

Update!
I found their webshop and found many options!
Take a look!

Awesome. The matte glass one, either second row from the top, first column from the left or third row from top, second column from the left, is the one you'll want. Keywords are "Glass 9H" and "matte" if that helps any! I highly discourage using plastic protectors partly because they have lower light transmission than their glass counterparts and also partly because they offer less impact protection than the 9H glass.

For others watching this thread, here is a full listing of all of dipos' official online storefronts:

EDIT: I also just verified too that "pda-schutzfolien" is dipos' official eBay store, so for people like myself who live outside of the EU, that the original link I shared is probably our best bet until someone else comes along with a matte glass screen protector.

I got the 64 GB model as well. I will look for a anti-glare or 'matte' when it comes out. I'll probably message here and see what other people are getting :p

@Kupfer from what I can see it's the same product.

Thank you all for finding such a good source of screen protectors.
The price is OK and especially €0.95 shipping is great.

Though the shop is kinda weird for not having an account system.

OT: @Kupfer That ticket in your signature is not compatible with the dark theme of the forum - transparencies ;)

So I have ordered them. What are ~14€ in relation to the deck. I just hope that fingerprints do not cause a rainbow effect. Although the manufacturer claims there is not this effect with their protector, I'm skeptical. As soon as they arrive, I will make a short summary.

For folks outside of Germany, I found where you can get them cheaper on eBay if you use this link:

If it says "matt" and "9H" in the product title and shows "anti-reflex" and "9H" also on the product box, then those are the right Dipos. They sell one and two-pack versions of these. I would opt for the two-pack seeing that it is just .50 Euros more. Also, for some odd reason, eBay does not list all of Dipos' listings on the North American .com eBay site. The ones on the North American eBay.com site charge an outrageous shipping price with no economy shipping option. However, I was able to do some link hacking by taking the item ID code from eBay.de and copying it into the eBay.com domain. At eBay.de, it costs just 0.99 Euros shipping to the USA via standard shipping (Deutsche Post Brief International). I saw the link there was https://www.ebay.de/itm/265286723596 and then took that item code at the end of the web address and plugged it into the eBay.com URL format like so, https://www.ebay.com/itm/265286723596, and viola. You can now get them with just 0.99 Euros shipping at the North American eBay.com by going to this unlisted product link.

Ok my screen protectors just arrived.
I pulled off the backing strip that is supposed to help release the backing film, but which is basically just a piece of protruding and punched out protector screen. You can see the strip on the upper left photo on the left side of the protector.
I put this strip on my galaxy tab p1000 (1024 x 600 resolution) and I'm disappointed. The image gets very blurry and you can't see it in the photos, but the protector itself shimmers with the slightest movement in all sorts of colors. Very subtle, but once you see it, it's hugely distracting.

I don't recommend it and I think I'll send it back and look around for a glass screen protector instead.

Bad news! I just got received mine in the mail and whatever they sent me, they are not glass screen protectors. They are plastic sheets. Same with the Surface Pro 8 ones I received as well. Very ticked off at the moment.

Sorry to hear that you thought it's glass. "Besser als Glas : Bricht nicht, splittert nicht (kein Echtglas, kein tempered glass)" means "Better than glass : does not break, does not shatter (not real glass, not tempered glass)".
At least I knew when I bought it that it was not real glass, but I was still not convinced of the quality as you can read above. I returned the protector screens and received my money back within 2 days.

Hey guys, thanks for these tips, they are quite useful for me to also search for specific products for my other gadgets screens. 😉
